Simple blood tests could spot diabetes risk without fancy lab work
NCT ID NCT07260201
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looked at 150 adults to see if two simple, low-cost blood tests (TGI and TGI-BMI) can accurately detect insulin resistance, a key risk factor for type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Researchers compared these tests to the standard but more complex HOMA-IR test. They found that both simpler tests worked well, especially the TGI-BMI test in people with obesity, suggesting they could be practical alternatives when standard testing isn't available.
