Can a simple text save a life? study tests phone alerts for homeless health

NCT ID NCT05187013

Summary

This study tested whether sending helpful text messages could improve blood pressure control for homeless adults in New York City shelters. About 120 participants with uncontrolled high blood pressure were randomly assigned to receive either general health texts or specific texts about medication, appointments, and blood pressure management over six months. Researchers compared blood pressure readings, medication use, and appointment attendance between the two groups to see if the targeted texts made a difference.
