Hope for patients with Drug-Induced movement disorder

NCT ID NCT01543321

Summary

This study tested whether the medication tetrabenazine could reduce involuntary movements in people with tardive dyskinesia—a side effect caused by long-term antipsychotic use. Fifty-four adult patients were randomly assigned to receive either tetrabenazine or a placebo pill for 10 weeks to compare effectiveness. Researchers measured changes in movement symptoms and quality of life to determine if this treatment could help manage this often permanent condition.
