Slower chemo infusion may save nerves in cancer fight
NCT ID NCT03800693
First seen Nov 06, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving the chemotherapy drug oxaliplatin over 6 hours instead of the usual 2 hours can prevent or delay nerve damage in people with gastrointestinal cancers. Nerve damage is a common side effect that often forces doctors to reduce or delay treatment. The trial will enroll 60 patients and measure nerve symptoms and drug levels in the blood to see if the longer infusion is gentler on nerves while still fighting cancer.
