Swab test could replace visual checks for cleaner, safer surgeries

NCT ID NCT05791734

Summary

This study tested a new, objective method to check if a patient's skin is clean before surgery. Researchers compared a simple swab test (ATPmetry) to the usual method where a nurse just looks at the skin. The goal was to see if the swab test is reliable and could help standardize pre-surgery skin checks to improve patient safety.
