NCT ID NCT06554522

First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving surfactant—a medicine that helps babies' lungs work—through a less invasive method can improve survival in premature infants with breathing problems. The trial takes place in African hospitals that lack ventilators, so the approach uses a thin tube instead. About 1,500 babies weighing between 750 and 2000 grams will receive this treatment and be monitored for complications and survival until they leave the hospital.
