Could an MS drug tame a rare Virus-Caused paralysis?

This study tests whether teriflunomide, a drug already used for multiple sclerosis, can help people with a rare spinal cord disease called HAM/TSP caused by the HTLV-1 virus. About 24 adults will take the drug daily for 9 months to see if it reduces harmful immune activity and improves symptoms. The goal is to find a safe treatment for this progressive condition that currently has no approved therapies.
