Race to stop diabetes before it starts: drug trial aims to delay disease in At-Risk japanese youth

NCT ID NCT06791291

Summary

This study is testing if a 14-day intravenous drug called teplizumab can delay or prevent the onset of type 1 diabetes in Japanese children and adults aged 8 to 34 who are at high risk. Participants must already be in 'Stage 2' of the disease, meaning they have diabetes-related antibodies and slightly abnormal blood sugar, but do not yet need insulin. The goal is to see if this short treatment can buy more time before the full disease develops.
