Zap your pain? study tests electrical device to cut opioid use after surgery

NCT ID NCT04209673

Summary

This study tested if a TENS unit, a small device that delivers mild electrical pulses through the skin, could help manage pain after surgery for leg fractures. Researchers followed 205 patients for a year to see if using the TENS unit was safe and if it could reduce the need for opioid painkillers while improving recovery. The goal was to find a safe, non-drug option for post-surgery pain.
