Stroke drug could help hours later with MRI guidance

NCT ID NCT07540416

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether the clot-busting drug tenecteplase can improve recovery in people with acute ischemic stroke when given 4.5 to 9 hours after symptoms start. It uses a special MRI pattern (DWI-FLAIR mismatch) to identify patients who might still benefit. About 564 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either tenecteplase or a placebo, and their functional outcomes will be measured at 90 days.
