Phone app alerts could slash stroke recurrence risk
NCT ID NCT07097428
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This large study will test whether giving stroke survivors personalized temperature warnings through a smartphone app can lower their chance of having another stroke. About 5,000 people who recently had an ischemic stroke will be split into two groups: one gets the app alerts and advice, the other gets standard care. Researchers will track stroke recurrence over one year.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- temperature health risk early warning via mobile app
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could provide a simple, low-cost way to help stroke survivors avoid another stroke by alerting them to risky temperature conditions.
- What could go wrong
- This is a behavioral intervention, not a drug, so its effect may be modest. The trial is not yet recruiting, and results may take years. Success depends on patients consistently using the app.
