Home video therapy aims to close language gap for deaf kids

NCT ID NCT04928209

Summary

This study tested whether providing speech and language therapy through video calls at home could help young deaf and hard-of-hearing children develop better communication skills. Researchers enrolled 211 children under 2 years old and offered an 18-month teletherapy program to some families, while others received their usual care. The goal was to see if easier access to therapy could improve language learning and reduce the gap in outcomes often seen between children from different income backgrounds.
