WhatsApp therapy could boost stroke hand recovery
NCT ID NCT07666906
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding home-based telerehabilitation via WhatsApp video calls to standard outpatient therapy improves hand function in people who had a stroke 1-6 months ago. Forty-eight participants will be split into two groups: one gets standard therapy plus daily 30-minute video sessions with a physiotherapist, the other gets standard therapy alone. After 6 weeks, researchers will measure changes in arm movement and dexterity.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a convenient, low-cost way to boost hand recovery for stroke patients at home.
What could go wrong
