Can rehab at home match In-Person therapy for brain injury?
NCT ID NCT07386314
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a home-based telerehabilitation program using a virtual reality device can help people recover motor and cognitive skills after a severe acquired brain injury as effectively as in-person therapy. Sixty-two adults aged 18 to 75 with brain injury will be assigned to either home telerehabilitation or in-person sessions over eight weeks. The goal is to see if remote rehab can be a practical alternative for patients after hospital discharge.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Telerehabilitation using VRRS HomeKit device
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that home-based telerehabilitation is as effective as in-person therapy for brain injury recovery, expanding access to care.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-stage trial with only 62 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The technology may not suit all patients or match in-person outcomes.
