First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a 12-week telemedicine coping skills group for brain injury survivors and their caregivers. Participants learned strategies to manage stress, depression, and communication challenges. The goal was to see if a virtual format could be as effective as in-person sessions in improving self-efficacy and group support.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Brain Injury Coping Skills (BICS) group sessions delivered via telemedicine
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a convenient way for brain injury survivors and caregivers to learn coping strategies and improve their confidence in managing daily challenges.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed feasibility study with only 49 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The intervention is behavioral and may not work for all types of brain injury or caregiver situations.
