Can a video call replace In-Person therapy for stroke recovery?

NCT ID NCT07661849

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares a home-based telerehabilitation program (Tele-CPASS) to standard in-person therapy for improving arm and hand function after a stroke. Forty-two recent stroke survivors with arm weakness will be randomly assigned to receive 20 hours of either remote or in-person therapy focused on daily activities. Researchers will measure arm function before, right after, and at 6 and 12 months to see if the remote option works as well.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
telerehabilitation program (Tele-CPASS)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a convenient, home-based therapy option that helps stroke survivors regain arm and hand function without needing to travel to a clinic.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 42 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The remote format may not be as effective as in-person therapy for some individuals.
