First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests whether a 12-month teaching kitchen program—including cooking classes, nutrition education, mindfulness, and exercise coaching—can help 320 adults with obesity improve their health behaviors and lab values. Participants are referred from primary care and must have a BMI of 30-39.9 plus at least one abnormal metabolic marker. The goal is to see if learning to cook healthy meals and manage stress leads to lasting weight and health improvements.
