First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests a non-invasive electrical stimulation device (TEA) placed on the skin to help elderly patients (65+) recover bowel function faster after colorectal cancer surgery. Participants receive either real TEA or a sham treatment twice daily for three days after surgery. The goal is to see if TEA reduces time to first gas and bowel movement, and lowers complications like prolonged ileus.
