Brain zapping study reveals how we process criticism

NCT ID NCT07406464

First seen Feb 16, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at how a gentle electrical current applied to the brain (tDCS) changes the way healthy women process social comments like criticism or praise. 47 volunteers had two MRI scans, one with real stimulation and one with fake stimulation, to compare brain activity and mood. The goal was to understand brain circuits involved in emotion, not to treat any disease.
