Summary

This study tested two methods for finding tuberculosis (TB) in communities in Lesotho and South Africa. About 20,000 adults took part. One method used only a chest X-ray with computer analysis (CAD4TB). The other added a quick blood test for inflammation (CRP). Both methods were followed by a confirmatory TB test. The goal was to see if adding the CRP test finds just as many TB cases and costs less.
