New TB screening combo aims to catch hidden cases cheaper

NCT ID NCT05526885

Summary

This study tested two ways to screen for tuberculosis (TB) in communities in South Africa and Lesotho, where many cases go undiagnosed. It compared using a chest X-ray analysis software alone against combining that software with a simple blood test, before confirming any suspected cases. The goal was to see if the combined method could find just as many TB cases but do so more cost-effectively.
