First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at whether measuring TB DNA in fluid from around the lungs (pleural effusion) can accurately diagnose tuberculosis. Researchers tested fluid samples from 329 adults and compared the new DNA method to standard tests. The goal was to see if this approach can diagnose TB faster, reduce the need for invasive lung biopsies, and help start treatment sooner.
