Less invasive heart valve procedure put to the test against major surgery

NCT ID NCT06597188

Summary

This study is comparing two procedures for treating a severely narrowed bicuspid aortic valve, a common heart defect. It will test if a less invasive procedure called TAVR, which uses a catheter to implant a new valve, is as safe and effective as traditional open-heart surgery (SAVR). The trial will enroll 452 patients aged 75 and under to see which method leads to fewer deaths, strokes, or hospital readmissions within a year.
