Heart valve showdown: Minimally-Invasive vs. open surgery for common birth defect

NCT ID NCT07413965

Summary

This study aims to find out which of two standard procedures is better for replacing a faulty bicuspid aortic valve, a common birth defect of the heart. It will randomly assign 1,200 participants to receive either a minimally invasive catheter-based procedure (TAVR) or traditional open-heart surgery (SAVR). Researchers will track patients for up to 10 years to compare safety, effectiveness, and recovery between the two approaches.
