Robot helper for heart valve surgery? new device tested in 158 patients
NCT ID NCT07392359
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new device called the TAVR Assist System, which helps doctors perform a heart valve replacement procedure (TAVR) for severe aortic stenosis. The trial will compare the assist system to the standard manual TAVR in 158 older adults. The goal is to see if the device is as safe and effective as the usual approach.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
TAVR Assist System (a device used during heart valve replacement)
What this could lead to
If successful, this device could make TAVR procedures more consistent and potentially safer for patients with severe aortic stenosis.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage, non-inferiority trial with only 158 participants. The device may not prove to be as good as manual TAVR, and there are always risks with any heart procedure, such as bleeding or valve problems.
