Heart valve fix without surgery backup: a game changer for access?
NCT ID NCT07515768
First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a common heart valve replacement procedure (TAVI) can be safely performed in hospitals that do not have a cardiac surgery team on site. Currently, TAVI is only done in hospitals with surgery backup, which can limit access and cause long waits. The trial will randomly assign 404 patients aged 70 or older with severe aortic stenosis to get TAVI either at a standard hospital or at a center without on-site surgery, and then compare safety and outcomes after 30 days.
