This study tests a non-invasive device that gently stimulates a nerve in the ear to help patients with serious brain or spinal cord injuries recover in the intensive care unit. Researchers want to see if it reduces complications like infections, the need for a breathing tube, and length of hospital stay. About 160 adults admitted to the NeuroICU will take part, and the study also looks at whether this approach can lower healthcare costs.
