Could one dose of radiation during breast surgery spare patients from more treatments?
NCT ID NCT00556907
First seen Nov 06, 2025 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using mammograms and breast MRIs can help doctors decide if a patient with an early, non-invasive breast cancer called DCIS can be treated with a single dose of radiation during surgery. The goal was to see if this approach would reduce the need for additional surgeries or radiation. The trial enrolled 36 participants but was stopped early, so results are limited.
