New hope: radiation combo may let men with advanced prostate cancer stop hormone therapy

NCT ID NCT06084338

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests a new approach for men with a tough-to-treat form of prostate cancer that has spread and stopped responding to standard hormone therapy. Instead of continuing hormone blockers, participants get a precise type of radiation to all visible tumors plus a radioactive drug that targets prostate cancer cells. Half of the men also get testosterone replacement. The goal is to see if this combination can control the cancer for at least 6 months without needing lifelong medication.
