Scan spots 'Hidden' tumor cells to boost radiation power
NCT ID NCT02802969
Summary
This study tested a new way to plan radiation therapy for chordomas, rare tumors of the skull base and spine. Researchers used a special PET scan to find low-oxygen areas in the tumor that are resistant to standard radiation. They then aimed to deliver a higher dose of radiation to those specific areas, hoping to improve tumor control without increasing side effects.
