Could a simple tape on the neck prevent deadly pneumonia in stroke survivors?
NCT ID NCT07255352
Summary
This study is testing if applying a special elastic tape to the neck can help stroke patients swallow more safely. The tape is meant to stimulate the muscles that lift the voice box during swallowing, which could prevent food or liquid from entering the lungs and causing pneumonia. Researchers will measure swallowing safety in 25 stroke patients with swallowing difficulties before and immediately after the tape is applied.
