First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looked at how changing the work-to-rest ratio during taekwondo combats affects athletes' bodies. Twenty experienced taekwondo athletes did three types of simulated fights: one with no set rest, one with short work and long rest, and one with long work and short rest. Researchers measured heart rate, blood lactate, jump performance, and how hard the athletes felt they were working. The goal was to understand which rest pattern is best for performance and recovery.
