Family cells fight fatal brain virus in groundbreaking trial

NCT ID NCT02694783

Summary

This early-stage study tested whether a special immune cell therapy could safely treat a severe brain infection called PML. Researchers took virus-fighting immune cells from a healthy family member, grew more of them in a lab, and infused them into patients with PML to see if they could help control the infection. The main goal was to check if this approach was safe and feasible for people with this difficult-to-treat condition.
