New device aims to crack open hardened leg arteries

Summary

This study is testing a medical device called SWM-831 to treat severely hardened leg arteries in people with peripheral artery disease. The device is used to open up blocked arteries before placing a drug-coated balloon or stent. Researchers are enrolling up to 81 patients in Japan to see how well the procedure works and how safe it is over 12 months.
