The silent struggle: how ICU stays can steal your ability to swallow
NCT ID NCT07005037
Summary
This study aims to understand how common and severe swallowing problems are in older adults after a stay in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Researchers will measure swallowing function, strength, and quality of life in about 460 ICU survivors and some of their caregivers over several months. The goal is to learn how these difficulties develop, recover, and affect long-term health and caregiver stress.
