New lung fibrosis drug SV001 enters first human safety trial

NCT ID NCT06267183

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-phase study tests a new drug called SV001 in 53 healthy Chinese adults to see if it is safe and how the body processes it. Participants receive a single dose of SV001 or a placebo. The goal is to check for side effects and measure drug levels in the blood. This is a first step toward possibly treating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a condition that scars the lungs.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

SV001

What this could lead to

If this early safety trial succeeds, it could pave the way for a new treatment to control idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a serious lung disease.

What could go wrong

This is a very early Phase 1 trial in healthy volunteers, not patients. It only tests safety and dosing, not whether the drug works. Many drugs fail at this stage.
