Surgery monitor may predict Post-Op pain

NCT ID NCT05147714

First seen Jun 13, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 52 adults having brain surgery to see if a monitor called the Surgical Pleth Index (SPI) can predict pain after they wake up. The goal was to help doctors give the right amount of pain medicine before patients wake, reducing pain and side effects. The study found that SPI values at the end of surgery may relate to pain scores and painkiller use after surgery.
