New surgical technique aims to stop heartburn after Weight-Loss surgery
NCT ID NCT04994665
Summary
This study is testing if adding a simple surgical step called omentopexy during sleeve gastrectomy (a common weight-loss surgery) can prevent patients from developing new, long-term acid reflux disease. Researchers will compare two groups of over 500 obese patients for two years: one group gets the standard surgery, and the other gets the surgery with the added omentopexy step. The main goal is to see if the extra step lowers the rate of new reflux cases and reduces the need for daily heartburn medication.
