Summary
This study tested if using a special monitor to check oxygen levels in a patient's large vein during surgery helps doctors give the right amount of IV fluids. The goal was to see if this approach leads to fewer complications after major abdominal surgery. It involved 220 patients over 50 years old having planned operations.
