Surgery table tilt tested for heart safety in obese patients

NCT ID NCT06835166

Summary

This study aimed to understand how changing a patient's position on the operating table affects heart function and blood pressure during a common weight-loss surgery. Researchers monitored 80 severely obese adults undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. They specifically measured heart electrical activity and blood pressure at five different points, including when the patient was tilted head-up, to see if certain positions posed a higher risk for heart rhythm problems.
