Scientists hunt for hidden germs that cause surgery infections
NCT ID NCT06300892
Summary
This study aims to understand why some patients get infections at their surgical wound after open abdominal surgery. Researchers will collect bacteria samples from the skin and gut of 300 patients during their operation and track them for 30 days afterward. By comparing patients who get infections with those who don't, they hope to learn if specific bacteria present during surgery later cause these complications.
