Eye surgeons test two fixes for wandering gaze

NCT ID NCT07180199

Summary

This study compared two surgical techniques to correct a specific form of intermittent exotropia, where one eye drifts outward, especially when looking up. Twenty patients with this 'V pattern' misalignment, but without a related muscle overaction, had surgery. Doctors compared the standard muscle-weakening procedure to a version where the muscle attachment was also shifted slightly upward to see which worked better.
