Nerve-Cut surgery aims to boost diabetes remission

NCT ID NCT07278115

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a procedure that cuts specific stomach nerves (truncal vagotomy) to a standard weight-loss surgery (Roux-en-Y gastric bypass) leads to better remission of type 2 diabetes. Researchers will compare the two surgical approaches in 40 adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes to see if the combined procedure results in more patients achieving normal blood sugar levels without diabetes medication for a full year after surgery.
