Radical surgery tested as new hope for men with widespread prostate cancer

NCT ID NCT07268794

Summary

This study is testing whether surgically removing the prostate helps men with advanced prostate cancer that has already spread to other parts of the body. After 6 months of strong hormone-blocking drug therapy, patients whose scans show the cancer has quieted down will be randomly assigned to either continue drugs alone or have prostate surgery plus continue the drugs. The main goal is to see if adding surgery helps keep the cancer from getting worse for a longer time.
