Can mentorship make surgeons happier and patients safer?
NCT ID NCT07153224
Summary
This study aims to understand how different types of professional support—like mentorship, coaching, or having an experienced surgeon available during operations—affect the mental well-being of surgeons in their first 10 years of practice. Researchers will follow 340 early-career surgeons for a year to see if this support reduces burnout and stress. They will also track the outcomes of the surgeons' patients to see if better surgeon well-being leads to better patient recovery.
