New dental shield technique may prevent gum collapse after tooth extraction
NCT ID NCT07473921
First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests a dental technique called the supracrestal socket shield, which leaves a small piece of tooth root after extraction to help preserve the bone and gum shape in the front upper jaw. Five adults with a single non-restorable front tooth will receive an immediate dental implant using this method. The goal is to see if it reduces gum recession and bone loss compared to standard implant placement.
