Summary
This study tested whether having a support person, like a family member or friend, involved in a patient's buprenorphine treatment for opioid addiction can improve outcomes. 439 patients and their support persons took part. The study looked at whether a counseling program for the support person helped the patient stay in treatment longer and reduce drug use.
