New tool aims to spot suicide risk in autistic youth

NCT ID NCT04317118

Summary

This study aimed to test a short questionnaire designed to identify suicide risk in children and teenagers with autism or similar conditions. Researchers worked with 278 youth and their parents to see if the questions accurately detected thoughts of self-harm. The goal is to create a better screening tool for doctors to use in clinics, as current methods aren't well-suited for young people with these disorders.
