First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This small pilot study tests whether deep brain stimulation (DBS) of a brain region called the subiculum can safely reduce seizure frequency in people with drug-resistant temporal lobe epilepsy and bilateral hippocampal sclerosis. Six participants receive the implant and are monitored for changes in seizure counts and quality of life. The goal is to control seizures, not cure the condition.
