Brain scans aim to solve medical mystery of 'Fake' vs. 'Real' tics

NCT ID NCT07137442

Summary

This study aims to help doctors better tell the difference between two types of involuntary movements: tics related to diagnosed disorders and 'functional tics,' which have a different cause. Researchers will measure brain waves and muscle activity in 75 adults, including people with tics and healthy volunteers, during a single clinic visit. The goal is to gather knowledge that could lead to more accurate diagnoses in the future.
